FIELD SET FOR WEST COVINA SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION

Eileen Jimenez, Jessica Shewmaker, and Debbie Touhey are the 3 candidates for two open sets. Jimenez and Shewmaker are the current officeholders. Touhey is the wife of real estate developer, former West Covina Councilmember and current Water Board Member Mike Touhey.

Jimenez and Shewmaker will probably run on the unique position of opening new schools, hiring teachers, and increasing enrollment. Most of those good news items came under the leadership of the former superintendent Liliam Castillo and prior to Jimenez joining the board and before firing Castillo.

Debbie Touhey will run on how she will bring positive change to the district, but will not mention the changes. She will attempt to hide or hope people do not remember how Debbie and her husband Mike removed their children from San Jose Academy after a loud and public argument with staff.

Mike Touhey vowed to do everything possible to close the school if ever given the opportunity. Is this his opportunity?

Also, Touhey faces explaining to voters why they removed one their children from West Covina High School after Mike Touhey had a run in with a staff member at the high school over playing time for one of his children on one of the sport teams. He also made unkind remarks about some board members, Steve Cox among them, after they refused to get involved in the issue.

Jimenez who copies Shewmaker campaign statements and took to dressing like Shewmaker at back to school nights will need to explain to voters about the decline in finances and increases in some class sizes under her two terms as Board President. She voted a $10,000 bonus during budget cuts for the current Superintendent.

Shewmaker will face an onslaught of negative campaigning by Jimenez and Touhey. When looking at the lesser of two evils, Jimenez or Touhey, maybe Touhey is the answer. At least she know what a consent calendar is.

Spence & The City Council

Rumors around town have Spence running for the West Covina City Council in November 2013. Even more amusing are the rumors Spence will run for the assembly seat his boss, Curt Hagman, currently holds.

Let’s eliminate the assembly seat rumor. Spence does not live in the assembly district of his boss. For Spence to run for the seat he would have to move. Highly unlikely, but I know many people who would help him leave the city and his school board seat.

Spence needs his school board seat to feel important, that is the reason he will never run for an office at a time and place keeping him from holding his school board seat. Giving up one seat and losing an election would hurt his self-image.

Now his run for the city council in West Covina. Spence does not have the courage to run for a seat resulting in an examination of his record on the school board, his activities as a leader of the California Republican Assembly and politics in general.

Let us start on his position on women issues:

1. Spence thinks women should stay at home, have children and not work.
2. He is against a woman’s right to make a choice of any kind, let alone when to have a child.
3. Ignoring his mother’s role in raising him when he apologized to his father for his conduct, never mentioning his mother.

How about his Republican base taking a good look at Democrats he has supported, for example:

1. Eileen Moranda Jimenez, a Democrat, who supports abortion, illegal immigration, and wants to return California to Mexico.

Spence is the individual who wrote an article (Flash Report) about the importance of not ignoring lower level offices and the Democrats who run for said office. The example he gave – Hilda Solis who started as Community College Trustee and ended up as Secretary of Labor.

Let’s look at fund raising?

1. Money from out of state.
2. Money from individuals and organizations from outside West Covina.
3. Spence chaired a campaign committee fined $34,000 for improper reporting.
4. His boss returning an illegal campaign donation received from the same group donating to Al Gore. Spence wrote about the issue at the time, but allowed his boss to take the donation, until it became public.

We cannot forget his feelings about children with weight probelms:

1. Burley Hurley
2. Fatty Patty
3. Obese Clarisse

His inability to work with others:

1. Telling a teacher to “F” himself.
2. Loudly protesting public retirement programs until he became a public employee. Let us all remember he talked his boss into preventing elected officials from receiving a public retirement just after he qualified.

Mike Spence – if he complains about it, he is probably quietly supporting it or participates in the activity himself. So when he champions issues, take a very close look…

LILIAM CASTILLO – BRING HER BACK NOW!!

Since the board majority took over and with the “unilateral and without cause” removal of former Superintendent Castillo, our school district has begun slowly disintegrating.

The latest mishap to occur, WCPD arrested a 33 year-old male teacher for having an “inappropriate” relationship with a 13 year-old girl at Walnut Grove Middle School. This, according to reports, started as early as May of this year.

In August of this year, the head of finance for the school district “without authorization” transferred $600,000 to San Jose Charter Academy to cover payroll. Turns out it was not to cover payroll, but to cover payments to Edison Learning in New York.

A high-ranking individual in the school district attempted to transfer staff around the district without authorization and in violation of employment contracts. This caused disruption in the school district and additional legal fees.

At one point this year, WCUSD was paying three superintendents, simultaneously. An issue arose during this time when the superintendent working did not come to the high school graduation. At first, it was thought an obscure part of state law may have made the graduation invalid. Again, time and money spent to determine, after the fact, if the school district followed the proper set of rules.

The above does not include the additional workers’ compensation cases for harassment and stress by some staff members costing the district, not only time, but money, along with having to pay for others to fill in for those employees.

The district is facing talent drain – many are looking for jobs in other districts to get out of WCUSD as it implodes. If not for it being so sad, Spence and Cox are running for re-election on the platform of making the school a model district. It was a model district which they are turning into a model of how not to run a district.

Let’s not forget Steve Cox and his over the top desires for the Superintendent which caused all of this to begin with!

For five years these types of mishaps did not occur in the school district, but with Spence and his disciples Cox and Jimenez have turned a model school district into a laughing stock. On top of all this, the head of finance told the school board that in less than 3 years they will be broke.

Who says you can’t go back in time? We are back in pre-2005.

Eileen Miranda Jimenez – What is she hiding?

Since Ms. Jiemenz will soon face a recall election, it is time to talk about Ms. Jimenez’s positions on campaign finance disclosure.

If the public wants to see who contributed to my campaign they can drive to Norwalk and look! What reason should we put our campaign disclosures on the web for the public to see? So much for openness and honesty as promised from Eileen Miranda Jimenez.

Mike Spence, who tries to hide everything, thought it was a good idea to put campaign disclosures on the web for the public to examine. Spence was very ill that night, thus he will probably change his mind.

Did Ms. Jimenez use campaign contributions to pay family and friends to work on her campaign? Did Ms. Jimenez use campaign contributions for parties and trips under the heading of campaign or fundraising events? Did Edison Learning, related organizations, or individuals make payments or donations to the Jimenez campaign? Did Jimenez raise money from politically incorrect organizations unknown to the voters of West Covina?

Well, if you want to know – drive to the County Registrar of Voters at 12400 E. Imperial Highway in Norwalk CA to get your answer, because Jimenez does not want you see it.

MIKE SPENCE – 20 Years No School Finance Knowledge – BREAKING STEVE COX NEWS!!

Mike Spence continues to prove the old saying, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” At Tuesday’s school board meeting, Mike Spence wanted to show his understanding of school finances, but proved just the opposite.

It seems that Mr. Spence either cannot understand or will not understand how districts allocate money to individual schools and the district office. Another thing Spence does not understand is the fact that no matter how schools receive an allocation of funds, it belongs to the entire district.

Spence does not understand that each school does not receive the exact same amount of money for each student. Schools with special needs students, English learners, or low-income students will receive extra money.

Now some will understand someone like Eileen Miranda Jimenez not understanding school finances – she does not have the ability. Others understand Steve Cox not understanding finance, he is only a CPA (Cut Paste Attach or Clueless Pathetic A**).

But, Super Mike Spence after 20 years should, at least, know how to spell “finance.” See, Mike Spence does not understand if he sounds intelligent while asking a dumb question, he is still asking a dumb question. The voters are starting to understand.

Now we can only blame ourselves, the voter for this mess. We elected a person with no understanding of schools after 20 years who has never held a real job, an unemployed self styled school expert who needs a script to ask a question, and another who lives off of a spouse – well that is actual an accurate description of two school board members. Right Mr. Cox and Mrs. Jimenez.

WHAT IS THAT SMELL – Stupidity, Laziness, or …?

Recently, an odor has been floating over the city. Many in the community have been asking, “Does anyone know anything about the horrible smell covering parts of the city?” I am happy to report that I have found the source of the aroma.

To paraphrase a line from Robert Duval in Apocalypse Now, “I love the smell of stupidity, laziness, and expense padding in the morning.”

At a West Covina School Board meeting, Eileen Jimenez asked to delay an upcoming board meeting until the end of the month. The reason, she would need a full day to travel back from a meeting in SAN FRANCISCO!!! She would not be able to get back from SAN FRANCISCO for the board meeting. She attempted to justify the travel time as it took her almost all day to get back from CHICAGO last year. The meeting ends on Monday, school board meetings are on Tuesday.

I guess all the wonderful education she received while “attending” Wellesey did not include basic geography. San Francisco is about 400 miles from West Covina and Chicago is about 1800 miles from West Covina.

Is there a reader who can tell me if Eileen Jimenez is just plain stupid in not knowing San Francisco is about 1 hour away by plane while Chicago is only 4.5 hours away?

Before you answer here are some additional facts. The meetings end on Monday at 12 Noon. The school board meets at 7 PM on Tuesday. In simple terms –The board meeting starts 31 hours after the meetings in San Francisco ends.

Is Jimenez telling us it will take her more than 31 hours to travel from SAN FRANCISCO?? If she drives, it will take about 8 hours. If she flies, it will take about 1 hour. If she takes a train, it will take about 8 hours. If she takes a bus, it will take about 10 hours. Nowhere near the more than 31 hours she claims to need.

I have to wonder why it took her “all day” to get back from Chicago last year. The meeting ended on Monday at 12 noon. It does not take 31 hours to get from Chicago to Los Angeles by plane. She did fly.

Here are more facts Ms. Jimenez did not cover while “attending college.” With the time change between Chicago and Los Angeles, the flight takes about 2.5 hours. Thus, if you leave at 2 PM on Monday from Chicago you will arrive in Los Angeles around 4:30 PM on Monday. I know traffic is horrible from LAX, but this is plenty of time to arrive at the Tuesday, 7 PM board meeting.

Of course, it is possible that she did not want to travel on Monday afternoon as it interferes with her afternoon nap or on Tuesday morning, as she is not out of bed from the prior day napping activities.

Maybe, there is a third reason. Is Jimenez padding her expenses by spending an extra day in Chicago and San Francisco at taxpayer expense?

Please Ms. Jimenez, tell us all. Is it stupidity? Is it laziness? Is it taking advantage of the taxpayers?

Actually, Ms. Jimenez thinks we are all stupid, too lazy to say anything, and do not care about waste. Ms. Jimenez takes the voters of the district so seriously that she did not waste her time to submit a rebuttal to the recall effort!!

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY – TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION, AGAIN

The money of the taxpayers of West Covina is now under the control of three EdisonLearning parents, a former district employee who “resigned” for “other opportunities,” and a business owner from Hacienda Heights.

By the way, the parents do not live in West Covina Unified. Aren’t you happy West Covina? Your bond money, police resources, and taxes are under the control of people who live and work everywhere, but West Covina. Where is Fred Sykes when you need him – screaming about no representation! Even if all the members of the City Council live in one part of the city, THEY LIVE IN WEST COVINA.

Now to the real good part – all five are absolutely loyal to EdisonLearning. If not, they would not be on this unelected board. If any of the five show independence from EdisonLearning – new board members. In any case, EdisonLearning will have a different board within two years.

The design calls for a two-year opening cycle…Workarounds will be employed to eliminate independent boards unique to each school, or, failìng that, diminsh their authority.

Where we could not hold the charter directly, the workarounds we would deploy-a single board, composed of carefully recruited, sophisticated individuals loyal to Edison,… the right to appoint one or even a majority of board members; the use of interlocking boards; the creation of nonprofit operating organizations; the recruitment of like-minded and supportive (elected) board member by Edison…from their communities….

So, when Spence, Cox, and Jimenez tell you they are looking out for you, you must be in New York or an employee of Edison Learning. It is simple, if they were looking out for you the trio of Jimenez, Cox, and Spence would not have given away millions of dollars needed by the 10,000 plus students in West Covina Unified and allowed the use of a taxpayer bond funded school for free!

You elected them and Cox, Jimenez, and Spence represent New York, not West Covina. New York gets the money and you get to pay.

Come this November, let’s throw the three, Cox and Spence out and recall Jimenez. Then they can move to New York since they have such an interest and desire to represent New York.

STATEMENT ON TERMINATION OF SUPERINTENDENT CASTILLO

On May 12, 2011 “unilaterally and without cause” the board majority Steve Cox, Eileen Miranda Jimenez, and Mike Spence voted to end the employment contract of Ms. Castillo over the objections of board members Camie Poulos and Jessica Shewmaker. The hundreds of people who came out in support of Ms. Castillo including two board members are in the dark as to why a person with the record of Ms. Castillo in our district had her contract terminated.

According to Mike Spence, the supporters of Ms. Castillo were nothing more than agitators or individuals forced to be there by the former superintendent. It was surprising Spence even notice since he spent most of his time asleep as shown in pictures on the internet and the newspaper.

Due to the short-sightedness and self-serving decision by three board members our school district lost one of the leaders who shaped policy to give parents and children more educational opportunities, protected programs, and jobs within our district.

Two board members, Steve Cox and Mike Spence, appear pleased with the prospect that they can now reverse the positive strides made in this district and community. After watching these two for many years, many still do not understand the twisted logic used by two people given a sacred trust by the public.

These two seem to relish in the discord, discontent, and fear they cause. That is what kept them in office. They could tell the public about the problems of the district. Then, they tell the public how they are the only ones with the experience to fix them. When the problems went away during times other districts had problems, the public began to notice. This was due to Ms. Castillo’s leadership.

The turnout at the special board meetings of people supporting our former Superintendent proves the public is aware of the shell game Mike Spence and Steve Cox have perpetrated on the public for almost two decades.

Come this November, the public must proudly support Governing Board Member Camie Poulos for reelection. Additionally,they should proudly support Glenn Kennedy for election to our board this November 8th. This site will announce support for a third candidate as soon as a good candidate formally announces. Since there is a recall of Ms. Jimenez, this site will announce support for a person to replace Jimenez when enough signatures are gathered and candidates announce.

We cannot live through another 4 years of Cox and Spence or another two years of Jimenez.

We must all pray we are able to survive the next 6 months with Cox, Jimenez, and Spence on our board.

Or is she proving she is just incompetent?

Is it true Eileen Miranda Jimenez is trying her best to show she is fit for higher office. She has been on the school board for 18 months. Is it true she has asked several people this insightful question. “What is the consent calendar I have been voting and approving?” She votes for things without knowing or reading it.

The consent calendar contains those items of normal and regular business approved as a group in order to save time. You know why this is even funnier, if that is what you want to call it – the agenda states and explains that the consent calendar contains those items of a routine nature ….

Jimenez votes for something which she does not know and does not read what she votes – Judy Chu watch out you will have some competition in the 2012 Congressional race as Jimenez has down the work ethic of a member of Congress.

If Jimenez can make carnitas she will have Mike Spence’s support since Spence supported Teresa Hernandez for Congress because her husband is in a Mariachi band and she makes good carnitas.

Jimenez is still thinking she will run City Council. By the way, the consent calendar is the same for them as the school board. Jimenez does not like criticism, just wait until the real pros get hold of her there.

Rumored comments like I am the only true hispanic won’t fly or those people who live in apartments bring down test scores, or want the police and fire to go county or what is BKK will play big time. Knowing Jimenez she will recommend raising fees on children’s sports so she can give the money to Edison Learning, like her idea to raise the cost of school lunches.

But, I have just wasted space and time as she will never run as she knows she can’t win. Here is my prediction. If Jimenez ran there will be a total of 5 people. She will come in 6th. That is not a mistype – she will be so far behind everyone else it will look like she is in 6th place.
